BRAIN & HEARING

Akshaya is a combined Master of Clinical Audiology and PhD student at the University of Western Australia.

Akshaya is supervised by Associate Professor Melanie Ferguson and Dr Bec Bennett from Ear Science, along with Associate Professor Helmy Mulders and Dr Robyn Choi from UWA. Akshaya’s PhD thesis explores how adults with hearing loss engage with digital interventions designed for hearing-related needs. The PhD aims to inform the development of more effective and engaging digital interventions for adults with hearing loss.

Akshaya graduated with a research-intensive Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) degree from UWA, which fostered in her a passion for research from the beginning of her undergraduate degree. She aspires to be a clinical and research audiologist who can facilitate both the development of clinically relevant research and incorporate novel evidence-based interventions in clinical service.
