HEARING THERAPEUTICS

I am a sensory neuroscientist specialising in auditory physiology

Dr Kristin Barry completed her PhD at the Auditory Laboratory at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2019 under Emeritus Professor Don Robertson and Assoc/Professor Helmy Mulders. Her research focus was on preclinical models of hearing loss and tinnitus, specifically how brain areas not classically thought to be related to hearing might be involved in generating tinnitus.

After her PhD, she then took up a position of Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University. In 2021, she returned to Western Australia and took up the position of Research Fellow at UWA to continue her research in auditory neuroscience and collaborating with Dr Filippo Valente on Ear Science’s Cleardrum. Dr Barry’s expertise lies in electrophysiology, behavioural neuroscience, calcium imaging and translational animal models.

Areas of research
  • Hearing loss & cognition
  • Tinnitus
