Dr Filippo Valente is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Molecular and Cellular Otolaryngology group, specialising in Neuroscience.
Filippo hails from Italy where he attained his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Padua. For his Master of Science he was enrolled in the Erasmus Student Exchange Programme, studying at the University of Barcelona (Spain).
He started his PhD in Italy, during which he spent some time at the Royal Institute of Technology of Stockholm (Sweden). His PhD focused on the characterization of novel nanomaterials for drug delivery to the inner ear, in order to address conditions causing hearing loss. With an increasing interest in the development of new biomaterials, Filippo flew to Australia and joined the Ear Science research team as postdoctoral researcher, aiming to develop innovative methods for tissue engineering in the ear.
