A few things to remember

Some things to keep in mind before attending your appointment with Lions Hearing Clinic.

Make sure your ears are clear of wax

Wax can affect the reliability of some hearing test results and may prevent us from completing all the testing planned for your appointment. If you think you may have a build-up of wax, we recommend having this checked before your visit.

Bring any recent hearing test results

If you’ve had a hearing test recently with another provider, please bring a copy of your results with you. This gives your clinician useful information about your hearing history and helps us understand any changes over time.

Bring your hearing devices

If you currently use hearing aids or other hearing devices, please bring them with you to your appointment. Your clinician may want to check your devices as part of your assessment. If they aren’t working, please contact us before your appointment so we can advise you on the best next step.

Consider bringing someone with you

A family member or close friend is very welcome to attend your appointment with you. Having someone familiar with your hearing and communication needs can provide another helpful perspective and can also make it easier to discuss and remember the information and recommendations provided during your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have any questions about your appointment? We have compiled some of our most common questions below here. Should you have any other questions, please reach out to our team.
A standard initial hearing assessment can take up to 75 minutes. Our clinicians will discuss your hearing history, perform a physical check of your ear canal, and assess your hearing in a sound treated booth. We’ll explain your results immediately and discuss a personalised plan to help you hear your best. You're very welcome to bring your partner, a family member or a friend along. Hearing changes often show up first in everyday moments at home, so someone close to you can provide useful insight and be part of the conversation about next steps.
A comprehensive adult hearing assessment at Lions Hearing Clinic usually takes 75 minutes. This allows time to discuss your hearing history and concerns, examine your ears, complete diagnostic testing, explain the results and discuss next steps.
No. As a not-for-profit clinic backed by Ear Science Institute Australia, our focus is providing independent, research-backed advice. If hearing aids aren't the right solution, we'll recommend the option that is.
Bring the results of any past assessments with you. Our clinicians will recheck your results in accordance with our evidenced-based processes and can guide you from there.
If you’re a pensioner, a veteran, or hold an eligible concession card, your hearing care may be fully covered under the Hearing Services Program. We can check when you call 1300 847 395, or see our costs and funding options.
In many cases, you can book a hearing assessment directly. If your symptoms suggest that medical care is needed, your audiologist may recommend that you speak with your GP or an ear, nose and throat specialist.
