Could you imagine a cure for hearing loss, rather than just treatment?
For almost ten years, Ear Science Institute Australia has held the Gift of Hearing Appeal charity dinner with Perth’s most generous philanthropists, business people, researchers and supporters.
Together, we’ve raised millions of dollars for community initiatives and hearing loss research, bringing new treatments and edging us closer to discovering a cure.
We’ve developed the world-leading ClearDrum® device, an implantable silk membrane that repairs damaged eardrums. When clinical trials are complete, ClearDrum® will change thousands of lives around the globe for people living with eardrum perforations.
We’ve been one of the first groups in the world to grow an inner ear organoid (like a miniature cochlea) in our lab, which could revolutionise treatments for currently incurable conditions such as Usher syndrome.
We’re developing new diagnostic tests for early detection of dementia, and discovering ways to reduce the risk of dementia later in life.
We visit remote Indigenous communities in the Pilbara, and provide much-needed hearing health care for children.
And we refurbish old donated hearing aids to be given to children in need, both locally and in countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
It’s because of you, our Gift of Hearing Appeal family, that we can continue to conduct world-class ear and hearing research, community initiatives and clinical services.
Donate today and you’ll enable us to continue this vital work.
