That’s why we’ve created a new video series with cochlear implant recipient Lesley, who shares her experience first-hand and answers some of the questions people often have when considering an implant.
Meet Lesley
Like many people living with significant hearing loss, Lesley wasn’t initially sure whether a cochlear implant would be an option for her.
Her hearing loss had gradually begun affecting much more than her ability to hear. Conversations became more difficult, and things she had previously enjoyed, from music and podcasts to simply connecting with others, became harder.
“I didn’t realise how much stress it was creating because I couldn’t do those things,” Lesley says.
After discovering she was a candidate for a cochlear implant, Lesley had plenty of questions of her own.
In our video series, she shares her journey from discovering she was a candidate and deciding whether to proceed, through to surgery, switch-on and adjusting to life with her cochlear implant.
