What to expect during your implant assessment

Your assessment is designed to build a complete understanding of your hearing, your challenges, and your goals.

1. Understanding your hearing and lifestyle

Your assessment begins with a conversation. Your audiologist will take the time to understand your hearing history, the situations where you experience difficulty, and how your hearing is impacting your day-to-day life. This helps build a personalised picture of your needs and ensures the assessment is tailored to you.

2. Comprehensive hearing testing

You will then undergo a series of detailed, non-invasive hearing tests to assess how well you hear different sounds and understand speech. This includes evaluating clarity in both quiet and more complex listening environments, providing a deeper level of insight than a standard hearing check.

3. Review and suitability for a hearing implant

If you currently use hearing aids, we assess how well they are working and whether they are meeting your needs. Based on your results, we determine whether a hearing implant may be appropriate and explain your options in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

4. Next steps and ongoing support

Following your assessment, we will guide you through the next steps based on your results. If a hearing implant is recommended, this may include referral to a specialist ENT surgeon. Throughout the process, our team remains involved to ensure you feel supported and confident in your care.
