Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

Lions Hearing Clinic audiologist Samantha Gould was one of only two audiologists selected from Australia to attend the Eriksholm Summer Camp 2019 in Denmark.
59 participants from 25 different countries attended the camp, which was based around the theme ‘The Future of Audiology’.

“We were lucky enough to have professionals from numerous different fields share their knowledge and expertise on the future of audiology, and attend tours of the Eriksholm Research Centre and Oticon Headquarters,” Ms Gould explained.

“In particular, learning at the Eriksholm Research Centre focused on research and developments in cognitive hearing science, advanced algorithms and eHealth.”

“At the Oticon Headquarters, we gained insight into the applied world of hearing aids, including the development of silicon chips, testing of new algorithms, and evaluating quality control.”

Upon returning to Perth, Samantha is excited to utilise her new knowledge regarding current technological advances and the future directions of audiology to guide recommendations and practices to provide optimal service to each one of her clients.

“The experience was memorable and inspiring,” said Ms Gould.

“For me, the opportunity to network and collaborate with professionals from all over the world who share a similar passion for hearing was invaluable. It really was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
