Ear Science staff bring back learnings from South Africa

The 34th World Congress of Audiology was held in Cape Town, South Africa this year.

A number of Ear Science team members from across our Lions Hearing Clinics, Ear Science Clinic and Ear Science Research attended the congress and met with international collaborators and networks to learn the latest in the world of audiology.

All staff at Ear Science have a key focus on translational research, ensuring that there are always tangible, real-life outcomes for patients. Our people have opportunities to present and attend conferences such as this, to bring back key learnings to improve clinical practice and outcomes for all.

The world-class research was undertaken at Ear Science also does not go unnoticed, and our own Head of Research Management presented at this year’s congress on the subject of tele-audiology; a research topic we’re well known for.

What did this year’s Ear Science team have to say about the conference?

“I find the best thing about attending a conference like the World Congress of Audiology is that we always come back with real, actionable items. We use the latest research and innovations to improve our processes and bring back new and innovative ideas to ensure that we continue to be at the leading edge of clinical practice in Australia.” – Lize Coetzee, Head of Clinical Services

“It was so beneficial to hear and learn from such a wide range of professionals in the hearing services industry from across the world.” – Clarisse Giacovazzi, Audiologist

“The biggest benefit for me was leaving the conference with new assessment tool ideas and management strategies that I can implement in the clinic right away. I am looking forward to sharing these with my team.” – Karin Van Der Merwe, Audiologist
