Provides skills and knowledge to recognize, assess and manage patients in an immediate period of crisis

Course Content:

  • Recognition, assessment and management of critically ill patients using structured ABCDE approach
  • Airway management skills
  • Basic Life Support
  • Defibrillation skills (Manual and/or AED modes)
  • Cardiac arrest management using ARC ALS Algorithm
  • Work as an effective team member in cardiac arrest
  • Mini cardiac arrest scenarios

  • Full day of teaching
  • Immediate Life Support Manual
  • Hands-on skills & cardiac arrest scenario practice with mannequin
  • Morning & afternoon tea with lunch

This course is suitable for doctors, nurses, clinics and allied health professionals with recent clinical practice. Over the course of 8 hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) a maximum group of up to 12 people will participate in small group scenarios. The session is RACGP certified (QI&CME CAT 1, 40 points, EM funding & CPR requirement) and ACRRM certified (10 ALS + 20 PRPD points + 30 EM MOPS points & 30 ANAES MOPS).
