Sharing research in the community

Ear Science Clinical Research lead Dr Dona Jayakody’s team is currently undertaking research into the links between hearing loss and cognition, wellbeing, social isolation, loneliness and dementia.

As part of this trial, the team are providing a number of information sessions in the community on the projected outcomes and potential solutions. Dr Jayakody was recently invited to present to members at the Rotary Club of Western Endeavour in Yokine.

“It is important to share our research findings with the community, and also give them an opportunity to be part of the current research projects,” said Dr Jayakody.

“One of our PhD students Hadeel Tarawneh and volunteer Lauren Sabatini had the opportunity to attend also, which is useful for them to both understand the nature of these presentations and the questions that are asked by community members.”
