In an Australian first, computer software being developed by scientists at the Nedlands-based
Lions Ear and Hearing Institute and UWA-based company, Paradigm Diagnostics will help doctors
determine likely diagnoses from a database of symptoms.
LEHI biomedical engineer Rob Eikelboom said information on the system would be collated from
reports published in international science and medical journals. The system would not replace
doctors, Dr Eikelboom said, but would help diagnosis “in remote areas”.
