Introduction:

Ear Science Institute Australia presents a high-quality two day Ear and Temporal Bone Course covering every day otologic and neurotologic disorders. In 2008, the course is held in conjunction with the ASOHNS Annual Scientific Meeting. This hands-on course has been designed to provide consultants and trainees in otolaryngology with the opportunity to develop new skills. The faculty includes world leaders and Australian experts that present lectures and personal instruction. The clinical training and educational centre (CTEC) in Perth, Western Australia is a world-class skills training laboratory with advanced audiovisual technology in a unique purpose-built facility designed to provide hands-on procedural experience in a simulated setting, catering for a wide range of specialty skills.

Course objectives:

  •     Review clinical anatomy of the temporal bone.
  •     Understand new concepts in otological diagnosis.
  •     Utilise radiology in the management of temporal bone disorders.
  •     Understand current surgical management of diseases of the tympanic membrane and mastoid.
  •     Perform surgical procedures of the ear and temporal bone utilising new techniques.


  • CME accreditation:

    This educational activity has been approved in the College's CPD Program. Fellows who participate can claim one point per hour (maximum 14 points) in Category 4: Maintenance of Clinical Knowledge and Skills towards 2007 CPD points

    Dates: Saturday 12th - Sunday 13th April 2008

    The registration fee includes lunch, afternoon and morning tea, course materials and use of the laboratory equipment. Course numbers are limited and early registration is recommended.
